Beryl Thyer Memorial Africa Trust (BTMAT)

The Beryl Thyer Memorial Africa Trust (BTMAT) is a U.K – based charity founded at the dawn of the 21st century by Dr. Peter McCormick. It obtained U.K Charity status in 2006. Dr. Peter McCormick had worked as a volunteer children’s physician in Cameroon for several years where he had seen children with Burkitt lymphoma and swallowed the bitter pill of watching them through their demise with little or no hope for a cure. It was this experience that caused Dr. Peter McCormick to form the BTMAT, named after his late sister whom he had lost to cancer.
