Continue to work as a team! – Prof Tih on International Nurses Day 2022
The Nkwen Baptist Hospital has joined its counterparts the world over to commemorate the International Day of Nurses. The Day celebrated on May 12, 2022, took place at the premises of the Hospital in Bamenda, Northwest Regional capital of Cameroon, and the headquarters of the CBC Health Services.
The presence of the Director of the CBC Health Services Prof Tih Pius Muffih graced the occasion that brought together all nurses serving in this hospital, administrative staff, and the entire staff body. They all joined the Nurses to observe this day set aside to acknowledge and celebrate the commitment and bravery of Nurses around the world. Coordinated by the International Council of Nurses, this day ensures that the invaluable contributions of nurses to the health of people globally are recognized.
On this premise, the Director of the CBC Health Services used the occasion to thank the Nurses of the entire CBC Health Services institutions for their commitment and resilience even in the face of crises and pandemics. He lauded their efforts as front-liners who have stood up to expectations during COVID-19, Cholera outbreaks, and by extension all other pandemics. Drawing inspiration from the theme of this year, “Nurses: A voice to lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health”, Prof Tih reiterated the leadership role played by Nurses to ensure improvement in healthcare delivery and lauded their continuous zeal to uphold standards. He encouraged all staff to work together, noting that “Healthcare is teamwork”. Prof. Tih Pius called on all nurses to always remember the Vision of the CBC Health Services, which is “Quality Care to All” and also to respect the Mission Statement of the institution.
Addressing the Nurses, the Supervisor of Nursing Services at the Nkwen Baptist Hospital, Mrs. Chimi Emerencia asked the Nurses to continue to shine the light and to ceaselessly demonstrate the virtues of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Referring to the 2022 theme, she called on society to stand by the nurses in the face of their challenging mission, and also to help them deliver services that are often under challenging environments and difficult circumstances.
The SNS cautioned the nurses to continue to rise to expectation and serve with passion in solidarity with the CBC Health Services Mission Statement which seeks to assist in the provision of health care as an expression of Christian Love to all who need it.
The event that was punctuated by sketches also witnessed the award of certificates to meritorious staff under different categories.
