Bamenda – April 17, 2026 – Dr. Issa Sanogo, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Cameroon, led a high-level UN delegation on an official visit to the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBC Health Services) on Wednesday, April 17, 2026. The engagement underscored the CBC Health Services’ critical role as one of the United Nations’ principal implementing partners in delivering humanitarian assistance to populations affected by the ongoing crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions.

The visit was specifically designed to gain first-hand insight into the innovative coping mechanisms and strategic adaptations that CBC Health Services has developed in response to significant global funding reductions. Major donors, including the United States, have either withdrawn entirely or substantially scaled back support for humanitarian interventions across the sub-region, creating operational challenges for many partners.

Upon arrival, the UN team was warmly received by Mr. Samuel Ngum, Director of CBC Health Services. In a focused meeting, the delegation and CBC leadership engaged in in-depth discussions on the evolving partnership framework. Topics included joint programming approaches, resource mobilization strategies, and the organization’s long-term vision for sustaining high-quality service delivery despite fiscal constraints.
Mr. Ngum reaffirmed the CBC Health Services’ unwavering commitment, describing the organization as an “all-weather partner” that remains deeply rooted in the trust of the communities it serves. “Irrespective of shrinking funds, we cannot abandon our course,” he emphasized. He highlighted the institution’s unique national grassroots network, which enables it to implement a wide array of humanitarian and health projects in close collaboration with multiple UN agencies. These initiatives directly address the urgent needs of crisis-affected populations in the Northwest and Southwest regions.

As part of the visit, the UN delegation had the opportunity to interact directly with beneficiaries of ongoing CBCHS – UN partnership projects. These conversations provided valuable perspectives on the partnership’s tangible impact and reinforced the importance of community-centered programming in ensuring resilience and sustainability.
The engagement reflects the continued strength of the strategic alliance between the United Nations and CBC Health Services. Both parties expressed confidence that, through adaptive strategies, shared expertise, and sustained community trust, the partnership will continue to deliver life-saving humanitarian support even in the face of evolving funding landscapes.
