Government Officials caution Beneficiary Parents of Children with Musculoskeletal Deformities to maximize use of Livelihood Support
The Musculoskeletal Deformities Project of the Hope and Healing International portfolio has begun the process of empowering parents of children with musculoskeletal deformities who have received treatment through surgery. The livelihood support is intended to support these parents with an economic activity that can help them raise funds to assist their children with disabilities.
The exercise began in Baptist Hospital Banyo on December 5, 2023, in a workshop for 7 parents. Three who desired to do sheep rearing were given a female and male sheep for procreation while the other four were guided and supported in their line of micro-scale businesses. The children with musculoskeletal deformities were also given didactic materials to facilitate their return to school.
Officials from the Ministries of Livestock and Animal Husbandry, Social Affairs, and Women’s Empowerment and the family witnessed the training of the parents on sheep rearing and record keeping.
The same exercise continued in Ngounso Baptist Hospital on December 7. Here, Government officials in Magba in the West region cautioned beneficiary parents of children with musculoskeletal deformities to make maximum use of the livelihood support they receive from the Hope and Healing International portfolio via the CBC Health Services.
Fokouang David, chief of the social center, and Ouafo Noche Chamberlain, subdivisional delegate of commerce and trade made the commendation on December 8, 2023, during a working session in Ngounso Baptist Hospital by the Musculoskeletal Deformities project.
The delegate of commerce and trade trained and empowered 10 parents with vocational skills to properly manage their micro businesses ranging from trading, poultry farming, hairdressing, and call-box.
In the meantime, the chief of the social center handed livelihood materials to the beneficiaries with a call for them to make good use of the items.
The beneficiaries, both in Banyo in the Adamawa region and Magba in the West region expressed gratitude to Hope and Healing International and CBC Health Services for giving back lost hope to their children with disabilities.
