Children Momentum Project organizes Refresher Training for Peer Educators
The Children Momentum Project (CMP) of the CBC Health Services has organized refresher training for Peer Educators of the project to evaluate performance and give recommendations to various challenges faced on the field. The meeting runs from August 18-20, 2022.
The Peer Educators were trained earlier this year in February 2022 to serve in the project as mediators between the facility staff and the children and adolescents living with HIV on treatment in their facilities. Their main duties in every treatment center include: Enhance Adherence Counseling (EAC), Peer Support, Nutrition Counseling as well as coordinate Support Group Activities for Children and Adolescents. With their assistance in every facility, every child and adolescent living with HIV stands a better chance of attaining viral load suppression; hence, an HIV Epidemic Control for all children and adolescents.
Within the training days, the Peer Educators were further grounded on educative material mentorship (Counseling Cards, Say and Play, and Tisamalia), approach to field work, using the EAC and Viral Load Charts, and steps to disclosure, etc. The trainees demonstrated complete understanding of lessons taught through practical sessions and group works.
Funded by ViiV Access Healthcare and PATA (Paediatric-Adolescents Treatment Africa) the Children Momentum Project (CMP) will be implemented for a period of 3 years in the North West Region of Cameroon.
