Overview

The Technical Services Department (TSD) of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services is responsible for the planning, development, maintenance, and management of infrastructure and equipment across all CBCHS institutions.

The Technical Services Department was formally established by the CBCHS Health Board in June 1989, with its first office located at Mbingo Baptist Hospital. Since its inception, the Department has:

  • Developed operational policies and technical guidelines
  • Strengthened coordination across CBCHS institutions
  • Successfully executed over 100 projects, installations, and maintenance interventions nationwide

The Department ensures that healthcare services operate safely, efficiently, and without interruption through the coordinated management of:

  • Medical and non-medical equipment
  • Buildings, utilities, and physical infrastructure
  • Power supply and waste management systems
  • ICT and telecommunications
  • Engineering, fabrication, and facility support services

Through these functions, TSD plays a vital role in advancing healthcare delivery as an expression of Christian love and service.

The Technical Services Department exists to design, construct, equip, and manage healthcare facilities and systems that enable CBCHS to provide quality healthcare to all in need, as an expression of Christian love and faith.

To support CBCHS in achieving its healthcare mission through effective infrastructure development, equipment management, and facility services.

The Department aims to:

  • Ensure professional project management from conception to evaluation
  • Apply modern and appropriate technologies for efficiency
  • Comply with statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Train and develop skilled technical personnel
  • Provide safe and comfortable environments for patients and staff
  • Standardize systems, materials, and services to reduce waste
  • Optimize maintenance and fabrication across CBCHS facilities

Since its establishment, the Technical Services Department has successfully executed numerous landmark projects across Cameroon, including:

  • Major hospital complexes (Mbingo, Nkwen, Mboppi, Banso, Kumba, Bafoussam)
  • Medical blocks, theatres, maternity and OPD units
  • Residential facilities for doctors and staff
  • Schools, training institutions, and chapels
  • Water, biogas, sewage, and hydro-power projects

Project values range from tens of millions to multi-billion CFA francs, reflecting strong technical and financial capacity.

  • Budgeting and procurement of medical equipment
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment (from basic to complex)
  • Equipment inventory management, coding, and registration

The Department undertakes:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Architectural and engineering design
  • Drafting and detailing of technical plans
  • Fabrication and maintenance of hospital equipment
  • Procurement of materials and contracted services
  • Financial and service-charge management
  • Project execution, supervision, and consultancy services
