Strengthening Disability Inclusion Through MEL

The vision of MEL in BEN is clear

A 4-day workshop to strengthen the capacities of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officers who are working with the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services EDID program has successfully wrapped up in Yaounde. The Workshop took place at the CBC Health Services Mvan Resource Center of Excellence from April 1-2, and 6-7, 2026, bringing together MEL Officers from the North-West, West, and Centre Regions of Cameroon.

The objective of the workshop was to equip these officers with practical tools and skills to effectively implement MEL activities under the Building Effective Networks (BEN) strategy.

The CBC Health Services Empowerment and Disability Inclusive Development (EDID) Program continues to strengthen its impact through a renewed strategic focus on Building Effective Networks (BEN), where Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) plays a central role. MEL is critical not only for capturing and analyzing data, but for transforming the data into meaningful insights that guide informed decision-making and measure real impact.

The three MEL Officers empowered to support the realization of this vision have been drawn from Partner Organizations (POs) who henceforth would experience improved data collection, analysis, and evidence-based programming.

Beyond technical capacity, the workshop delivered a powerful message: MEL is not just about numbers—it is about impact. It is about identifying gaps, improving interventions, and most importantly, transforming the lives of children and youths with disabilities. Every data point represents a real person, a real story, and a real opportunity to make a difference.

With this renewed capacity, MEL Officers are now better positioned to strengthen networks, promote inclusion, and drive meaningful, evidence-based change across communities.

At the end of the workshop, the Director of CBC Health Services Mr. Ngum Samuel congratulated the MEL Officers and urged them to uphold the Mission and Vision of CBCHS as they embark on their tasks. To further support the realization of their objectives, he presented each officer with a brand-new laptop—symbolizing trust, commitment, and readiness to deliver impact.
