The representative of the Minister of State in charge of Higher Education (MINSUP) recently paid a working visit to the Baptist Higher Institute of Professional Studies Mvan, Yaounde with the aim of evaluating the functioning, academic organization, and professional orientation of the institution. During the visit, the Dean and the team of leaders/lecturers presented the vision of the institution, current programs, challenges, and plans for expansion.

The Dean of Studies, Dr. Helga Nsang Jam explained that the school currently runs programmes in Hotel and Tourism Management, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Building Construction Technology, Fashion Design, and Vocational Guidance and Counselling. She noted that the institution started with Hotel and Tourism Management and Computer Engineering in 2025 and later expanded into other professional fields based on the needs of the population and opportunities within the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) system.

Accordingly, the Dean of the institution asserted that she presently works with 35 part-time lecturers who are engaged based on course needs and specialties. The school also emphasized its strong practical approach to training, especially in catering, tourism, engineering, and vocational education, with students undergoing internships within CBC/ CBCHS facilities and other partner companies.
During discussions, the MINSUP representative, Mme EKEMA ANNETTE NALOVA, encouraged the institution to continue focusing on job creation, entrepreneurship, and innovation rather than producing graduates who depend only on employment opportunities. The delegation also stressed the importance of partnerships, practical exposure, proper academic follow-up, and ensuring that students acquire skills capable of transforming the economy.

The Dean further highlighted that the CBC system already provides a strong professional environment for internships and future career opportunities through its hospitals, health centres, technical departments, and vocational institutions spread across the country. She also explained the institution’s bilingual approach to teaching, continuous lecturer evaluation, and strict academic monitoring system aimed at maintaining quality education standards.

The visit ended with a visit to some technical sites of the school and an appreciation from the government delegation for the efforts already made by the institution in promoting professional and technical education within the CBC system by contributing to skills development and youth empowerment in Cameroon. The supervision team from MINESUP included Mme EKEMA ANNETTE NALOVA (lead), M. TAMBO PARFAIT, Dr. EVINDI VENANCE, Mme NDZIE MARIE NOEL, and M. ELLA JEAN MARIE.
