Overview

Mboungam-Mongbe Baptist Primary Health Centre started as a LAP Primary health centre (PHC) through outreach activities in 1990 and was approved by the Bankim Health Destrict on 21st August 2009. The community gave land and constructed for the building the centre is currently running on.  As of March 2026, the health centre sees an average of 250 patients monthly; has 08-beds, 11 staff with two screeners opens 24/24. As of now, the PHC provides observation services, and outp atient and inpatient services. Key services in the Health Center are Mother and Child Health, General Consultation, Laboratory services and family planning services, PMTCT services and pharmaceutical services.

Out-Patient Services
Laboratory

The Laboratory runs 24/24 running diagnostic tests:

  • Parasitology: urine/stool analysis, occult blood, H-pylori, Malaria rapid tests/smears
  • Serology: Hepatitis B & C and Hepatitis B panel, HIV, syphilis, toxoplasma, typhoid, TORCH, direct and indirect combs test, Haemoglobin Electrophoresis, Chlamydia Antigen/Antibody test
  • Hematology: CBC, ESR, Emmel’s test, Coagulation Panel (Prothrombin Time, INR, )
  • Bacteriology: sputum analysis, bodily fluid analysis (CSF, pleural, ascitic, synovial), semen analysis, ECS/VS/HVS, Gram staining
  • Antenatal clinic laboratory for pregnant women
  • Elisa: chlamydia IgG/IgM
Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department provides:

  • Dispensing of drugs to outpatients and inpatients
  • Compounding and pre-packaging of drugs
  • Counselling and clinical interventions
  • Drug supply to wards and other departments
  • Bill review, inventory control, and requisition
  • Continuous education of pharmacy staff
  • Updates to consultants on drug availability
  • Procurement and inventory control
  • Drug storage
ANC

Services include:

  • Laboratory tests for pregnant women (CBC, urinalysis, Hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, malaria, and blood group)
  • Vital signs monitoring and blood pressure checks
  • Physical examination and counselling
  •  
  • Health education, devotions, and nutrition talks
  • Postpartum consultation for mothers and babies
  • Vaccinations (BCG, Polio Zero at birth; PENTA, ROTA, and NEMO at 6 and 10 weeks)
  • Family planning activities (implants, oral contraceptives, BTL)
Women’s Health Program

Services include:

  • Treatment of some sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as Gonorrhoea, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma Genitalium and Trichomonas Vaginalis 
  • Health talks, sensitization campaigns, and community outreach

Social Services
  • Domestic violence and abandonment cases
  • Stress management, counselling for depression and anxiety
  • Psychosocial support for addiction cases (drugs, alcohol, sex, etc.)
  • Guidance counselling and mediation between patients and administration
  • Depression, epilepsy, anxiety, psychotic, and sleep disorders
  • Substance abuse, dementia, and developmental delays
  • Suicide risk, self-harm, somatic disorders
  • Adherence counselling for HIV positive cases
Wound Care Clinic and Treatment Room

The clinic provides:

  • Wound dressing and debridement
  • Suturing, incision and drainage
  • Nail surgery for ingrown nails
  • Foreign body removal
  • Angle brachia index (ABI) test
  • Monofilament test for diabetics
  • Blood sugar test
  • Cone excision
  • Ostomy care
Chaplaincy Services

The Chaplaincy Department supports the spiritual well-being of staff and patients. Activities include Bible studies, daily devotions at the hospital chapel, prayer sessions with staff, and bedside counselling and prayers for patients in the In-patient Department (IPD). We have devotions in the OPD, wards, and antenatal clinics (ANC), Enfant welfare and in all clinics of the hospital. They follow  a scheduled yearly spiritual retreats and has a functional spiritual life committee that facilitates spiritual activities like LORD SUPPER ETC

The chaplains provide counselling for patients with terminal illnesses, end-of-life care, premarital counselling, and marital counselling. They also work closely with doctors to support clients with chronic and terminal conditions. The department ensures that spiritual values are integrated into all hospital programs and activities. We also carryout inquirer classes for spiritual growth and maturity in Christ Jesus. We also distribute bibles to needy patients to enhance spiritual growth especially to those who responded to Christ They staff are encouraged to contribute a freewill offering into the hospital needy fund to meet the needs of patients who are very needy. It offers choir ministration in and out of the hospital; a tool of evangelism and hospital outreach sensitization.

The chaplaincy is open to the community as well as to staff for referral and counter referrals in collaboration with mental health, community spiritual leaders and social services

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Program - Know Your Numbers (KYN)

The KYN program helps patients know their blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and waist circumference to assess risks of hypertension, diabetes, and obesity. Patients diagnosed are followed up through hypertensive and diabetes clinics visits, education sessions, and community sensitization campaigns. They are involved in community outreaches
