LAP organizes Mini Health Fair to promote Community Health
The Life Abundant Primary Healthcare and Prevention (LAP) program has remained committed to its mission of taking healthcare to remote communities in Cameroon. In recent years, the CBC Health Services via its LAP program, initiated health fairs as a medium to take healthcare as a package to hard-to-reach communities.
Two communities were targeted this year: Mbioko 1 in Ngambe Tikar subdivision in the Center region and Makoumbi in Massagam subdivision in the Noun Division in the West region. The 4-day Mini Health Primary Health Fair organized by the CBC Health Services Life Abundant Primary Health Care (LAP) program came to an end on November 6, 2021 in Mbioko 1. The health fair brought together health personnel from CBC Health Services and the community at large.
Reports say, Mbioko 1 Baptist Health Center officially opened in 2021. Prospection visits started in 2018 with formation of a Dialogue Structure also known as Village Health Committee.
LAP Administrator, Peter Kakute explained that the CBC Health Services’ organized Health Fair is in line with the United Nation’s Declaration of 2015 on Sustainable Development Goal No.3.8 which spells out the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030. It is also in accordance with Cameroon’s Emergence agenda for 2035 announced by the President of the Republic of Cameroon.
Mr. Kakute further stated that the goal of this year’s Mini Health Fair is to promote good health, wellness and disease prevention among individuals, families, groups and the community at large through health talks, counseling, screening, treatment initiations and referrals.
The experts at the health fair were drawn from CBC Health Services. they attended to clients at various stands: Eye Screening, Dental Screening, Women’s Health, Mental Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, Hypertension, Diabetes, Know Your Numbers, and Ear, Nose and Throat amongst others.
According to the LAP Administrator, the health fair in Makoumbi in Massagam subdivision in the Noun Division in the West region will begin on December 3, 2021. Here, the LAP team will also be on hand to offer basic healthcare in diverse areas and referring critical cases for better management in the hospital.
