Location:
The health centre is located in Koussam Village in Njimom Sub-Division in Noun Division of the West Region of Cameroon. It is found about 12 km from Foumban town. The centre shares boundary with the Fon’s Palace.
 Catchment areas:
The patients seen in the health centre come from other neighboring villages like Mayhait, Njimom, Follap, Foget, Njinka, Njinshem and towns like Foumban and Malantueen. The population of Koussam is predominantly Muslim.

Overview
From a Life Abundant Primary (LAP) Primary Health Centre (PHC) in 1998 to a  full-fledged health centre of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services on January 1, 2013. Built on 12 hectares of land, a gift from the community, Koussam Baptist Health Center (KBHC) in the West Region sees an average of 200 patients every month. The Health Centre has doctor’s support visits on the first Friday of every other month. Koussam BHC is being mentored by Bafoussam Baptist Health Centre. As at March 2026, the Health Center has 10 beds, and a staff strength of 8 dedicated staff with a bill Relief duty and 1 nurse relief duty working 24 hours round the clock attending to patients’ needs.
Our Services
Out-patient
The Laboratory runs 24/24 running diagnostic tests:
- Parasitology: urine/stool analysis, occult blood, H-pylori, Malaria rapid/smears
- Serology: Hepatitis B & C, HIV, syphilis, toxoplasma, typhoid, TORCH
- Hematology: CBC, ESR, haemoglobin electrophoresis, direct and indirect coombs test
- Bacteriology: sputum analysis, bodily fluid analysis (CSF, pleural, ascitic, synovial), semen analysis, ECS/VS/HVS, Gram staining
- Blood Donation Unit: donor screening, bleeding, and transfusion services
- Antenatal clinic laboratory for pregnant women
- Elisa: chlamydia IgG/IgM
The Pharmacy Department provides:
- Dispensing of drugs to outpatients and inpatients
- Compounding and pre-packaging of drugs
- Counseling and clinical interventions
- Drug supply to wards and other departments
- Bill review, inventory control, and requisition
- Continuous education of pharmacy staff
- Updates to consultants on drug availability
- Procurement and inventory control
- Drug storage
Services include:
- Laboratory tests for pregnant women (CBC, HB, urinalysis, Hepatitis B, HIV, syphilis, malaria, and blood group)
- Vital signs monitoring and blood pressure checks
- Physical examination and counselling
- Management of low-risk pregnancies and referrals
- Health education, devotions, and nutrition talks
- Postpartum consultation for mothers and babies
- Vaccinations (BCG, Polio Zero at birth; PENTA, ROTA, and NEMO at 6 and 10 weeks)
The clinic provides:
- Wound dressing and debridement
- Suturing, incision and drainage
- Nail surgery for ingrown nails
- Foreign body removal
- Angle brachia index (ABI) test
- Monofilament test for diabetics
- Blood sugar test
The Security Department operates 24/24 ensuring the safety of patients, staff, property, and information. Key roles include:
- Monitoring access to hospital facilities
- Escorting patients and visitors to the right services
- Preventing theft and unauthorized removal of hospital property
- Surveillance through cameras and real-time monitoring
- Collaboration with public security in Bafoussam
- Documentation of incoming parcels and dispatches
- Monthly reporting to CBC Health Services Headquarters
In-Patient
- Labor and delivery services (intrapartum care)
- Postpartum care for mothers and newborns
- Gynaecologist ward rounds and consultations (on visits)
- Family planning education and postnatal care
- Daily health talks on vaccination, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Medication administration and dressing changes
- Screener’s rounds and patient monitoring
- Infection prevention through daily cleaning
- Patient education and health talks
