The Christian Blind Mission (CBM) has remained resolute in her spirited fight against the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19). The organization has once more supported the efforts of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS) with the donation of over 800 facemasks to help in the fight against COVID-19.
CBM Country Director, Mr. Fon Julius handed the masks on July 28, 2020, to the Chief of Administration and Finance in the Director of CBC Health Services Office in Bamenda, Mr. Warri Denis.
According to the Country Director, since the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease, CBM started reflecting on ways to carry out work that will fit in the pandemic context given that development work projected with partners has been challenging to implement in the presence of the disease outbreak.
Mr. Fon said CBM had a second option which permitted them to repurpose 14 Million FCFA to support persons with disabilities in the community to fight against COVID-19 and 65 Million FCFA to support the CBC Health Services health facilities in an inclusive response to the pandemic.
“The third action is that of supporting three CBM eye projects with facemasks to enable staff to continue to offer quality care within the pandemic period, which CBC Health Services is among the beneficiaries,” he added.
Mr. Warri Denis described CBM as a valuable and committed partner to the CBC Health Services, noting that the long-standing partnership has been fruitful for the past years. He recounted the kind gestures made by CBM during the crisis and pandemic period which has gone a long way to enable CBC Health Services in her response to COVID-19.
The facemasks were received in the presence of the Supervisor of the Eye Department of the CBC Health Services, the Administrator of Nkwen Baptist Health Center, and the SEEPD Program Manager.
In a separate meeting with SEEPD staff, the CBM Country Director applauded them for their efforts in meeting targets despite the present crises. He refreshed the minds of staff on the meaning of CBM and how it can be represented in the different activity implementations. The Country Director pledged CBM’s continuous support to partner organizations in the future.
