Leaders of the CBC Health Services have received detailed updates on the current developments within the institution in an elaborate and explicit presentation done by the Director, Mr. Ngum Samuel titled: “One Year of Journey: Performance and Future”. The presentation took place within the backdrop of the 2025 Goals and Budgets Committee Review Session and the Postings and Transfers Committee Meeting that ran from May 12-14, 2025 at Mvan Resource Center, Yaounde.
The presentation had statistics showing uptake in outpatient and inpatient services, Public Health and Community Development Programs, Bed Occupancy Rate, Pharmacy visits, Maternal and Child Health, Deliveries, Surgeries, Major Surgeries, Services for Clients with Disabilities, and generally client satisfaction rate. The statistics disclosed an improvement in service delivery as the DHS confirmed that “All our facilities are currently performing well” and used this as a yardstick to congratulate the leaders who have accomplished these in the midst of various challenges, both internal and external. He acknowledged that it is collective progress towards realizing set objectives.

The Goals and Budgets Committee Review Meeting holds annually for an assessment of plans made in the previous year, monitor progress, and develop additional strategies to ensure effective implementation of these plans by the end of the Institutional Financial Year, while the Postings and Transfers occurs once a year to ensure that staff are placed where they would be of utmost service given their areas of expertise.
The heavily attended meetings in Yaounde had as Guest of Honor the Executive President of the CBC, Rev. Dr. Teke John Ekema who was attending the session for the first time since his induction. In his usual calm and fatherly manner, he thanked the leaders for the services rendered across the years. He walked down memory lane to acknowledge those who laid the foundation on which the CBC Health Services now stands tall. Noting that the work of the missionaries would never be sidelined for as far as the institution lives. The EP acknowledged previous leaders like Prof Tih Pius Muffih who served as Director with formidable achievements. In his words, “God always puts people ahead of us who lay the foundation on which we grow”. The Executive President called on all present to continue with the spirit of servicing the institution to reach unimaginable heights in serving those in need. Services, he charged should be rendered “As unto God and not unto man,” and service prioritized over money. The leaders were once again entrusted with confidence and trust to continue to be good stewards of the resources bestowed on them.

It is a common phenomenon for good work to be rewarded. The CBC Health Services also recognizes excellence in different aspects of services delivery. Twenty-Six (26) health facilities including Hospitals and Health Centers were recognized in different aspects as a sign to encourage them to continue to do more. These included but not limited to excellence in outstanding performance, commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing healthcare services in different disciplines throughout 2024. The awards ceremony coordinated by the Director who at the end delivered a speech expressing his heartfelt appreciation to all the leaders for their unflinching dedication, commitment, and active participation in shaping the future of the CBC Health Services. Moving forward, leaders were called upon to “Embrace innovative thinking, strengthen our system-driven approaches, and optimize existing resources to consolidate and sustain our goals”. “As we look forward to the future, we must recognize that we are making progress. We are not where we once were, and by God’s grace, we will continue to move forward,” the Director rendered a reassurance.
