HBPP gets New Management Board
A new Management Board is now in place at the helm of the Health Board Pension Plan (HBPP). The new team of members assumed duty during a Board meeting in Bamenda on May 13, 2022.
Installing the Board Members, Prof. Tih Muffih, Board Chairman called on them to see their job as a call to duty, to manage the savings of the scheme’s clientele-who want a better life at retirement. “Handle your job diligently to better a lot of clients,” emphasized Prof. Tih.
The new Management Board is coming into place following the election of delegates in various stations across facilities of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services. Mr. Warri Denis, Deputy Chief of Administration while presenting the delegates underscored that the number of delegates to the Board from each station were elected based on the number of staff enrolled in the scheme. “A station with less than 300 enrolled members will have one delegate and that with 300 and more will have two delegates,” he said.
Following that criteria, HBPP Management Board currently has 24 voting members.
HBPP saw the light of day in the 1980s just as a project attached to the Directorate of the CBC Health Services. Over the years, it has evolved into a scheme reputed for helping staff plan their retirement well.
Mr. Kwieh Elvis, HBPP Manager says as of May 2022, the scheme was waxing strong with a current clientele of 3,580. In his operation report for the 2021 financial year, he said the Board realized all its goals and is pressing on to those of 2022 unperturbed.
Besides receiving new members into the Board, May 2022 Board Meeting was a unique opportunity to review operations for 2022, review service delivery and commitment of clients as well as map out a strategy to increase the enrollment into the scheme.
According to the Board Chairman who doubles as the Director of Health Services, the organization has over 5000 staff. Being a major client base for HBPP, it was time for the Board members to do all it takes to have many staff enroll in the scheme. We will particularly reward those Board members who will hereafter canvas for 100-percent enrollment of staff of their station into the scheme, said Prof. Tih.
One of the high moments of the meeting was the presentation of the scheme’s financial audit report sheet for 2021. Mr. Mbuh Vincent, Internal Auditor said HBPP was on a good footing and is viable enough to meet the needs of its clientele.
Worthy of note is that the current Board members four-year mandate
