The capacities of data clerks and Zonal coordinators who function in the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) department of the CBC Health Services have been strengthened on effective data collection, effective data management, client feedback implementation, reporting tools and reporting for improved service delivery across CBCHS facilities. The two-day Zonal workshop ran from February 5-6, 2026 at the Nkwen Baptist Centre, bringing together PMEL zonal coordinators from the various zones and 39 data clerks from all CBC Health Services facilities, hospitals and health centres.

“Data is not just numbers put together. It is the story of our patients, the measure of our performance and the evidence that guides decisions. As PMEL Zonal coordinators and data clerks, you are custodians of this vital resource. The accuracy of our reports, credibility of our health indicators all depends on your diligence and professionalism,” Mr. Warri noted.
The PMEL Program Manager, Mr. Ndzi Emmanuel in his welcoming address, briefly gave insights into the PMEL strategy, highlighting the importance of the workshop being to:

improve understanding of Data collection and management processes, enhance data quality and accuracy and increase use of Data for decision making. The workshop, according to Mr. Ndzi, was to identity areas for improvement and develop action plans to address challenges of 2025 and move forward into 2026.
The participants got drilled by the PMEL team; Mrs. Kpeya Queen, Mrs. Ngala Dorcas, Mr. Fuh Valentine and Mr. Tata Emile on key topics and issues including Data quality dimensions, Customer care and client feedback, Basics of medical records and how to handle them, the purpose of zonal coordinators and how it applies to the organisation, extensive use of Excell spreadsheets in preparing Zonal reports as well as provision of explicit information on formulas for adequate data entries and the process and importance of saving this information and avoiding mistakes, emphasising the importance of Zonal Group work in all the various Zones.
