NCD Program: Energized and ready to tackle the year ahead!

Staff from the NCD Prevention and Control Program’s Central Office have been energized and are ready to tackle the year ahead. The resolve was made during a strategic alignment workshop on January 30, 2025, at Nkwen Baptist Hospital conference hall organized to assess the Program’s state and identify opportunities for integration with other health programs.

During the workshop, which was facilitated by the CBC HS Grants Administrator, Mr. Abanda Alphonse, participants explored the strategic objectives and seven framework pillars of the program. A thorough SWOT analysis equipped staff with insights and energy to successfully execute this year’s program activities.

A high point of the strategic training workshop was the session on effective leadership and management, which focused on leadership and legacy, transformative leadership, leadership responsibilities, and transformational leadership qualities.

Mr. Abanda Alphonse explained that this strategic management exercise involved evaluating the program’s effectiveness and identifying any gaps. The workshop reviewed the past nine years of operation, acknowledging that NCDs remain a significant global public health concern, responsible for approximately 71% of annual deaths. CBC Health Services emphasized its commitment to refining its response to NCDs and staying at the forefront of quality healthcare delivery.

At the end of the workshop, Mr. Takwe Boniface, Program Manager of the NCD Prevention and Control Program rendered appreciation to the Grants department for availing themselves to impact knowledge on the NCD Staff. He hoped that the workshop would enable his team will emerge and do more.

Workshop participants described the experience as an eye-opener, enhancing their skills, particularly in management and leadership. The identified gaps will enable them to re-strategize, align activities with objectives, and achieve program goals more effectively. Participants expressed gratitude to the program manager for facilitating the strategic planning meeting.
