CECPES Graduates 16th Batch of Social Workers

Graduating social workers & dignitaries led by CBC Executive President

The Centre for Clinical Pastoral Education and Social Services (CECPES) has graduated its 16th batch of Social Work students in a ceremony held on November 8, 2025, at the Director of Health Services (DHS) Hall in the Baptist Center Nkwen, Bamenda.

A total of 13 students who successfully completed the intensive training program received their certificates from the Director of Health Services, Mr. Ngum Samuel, during the event.

Described as a smart, hardworking, and dynamic group, the 16th batch demonstrated strong commitment throughout their training. They actively participated in workshops and seminars aimed at equipping them for inclusive and humanitarian social work practice.

In his remarks, the Personnel Manager, Mr. Ndosak George, representative of the Director of CBC Health Services, congratulated the graduates and urged them to put their acquired knowledge and skills into practice to address the growing psychosocial challenges within communities.

The Director of CECPES, Rev. Mbuh Julius expressed appreciation to the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) administration for its continuous support and for providing an enabling environment for the training of social workers. He encouraged the graduates to uphold the values and integrity of CECPES, reminding them to “Shine their light in a dark world” as they serve their communities.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the Delegation of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, and other key stakeholders. During the event, the graduates presented academic papers highlighting the skills they acquired, field experiences, lessons learned, and recommendations for strengthening social work training at CECPES.

Certificates jointly signed by the Director of CBC Health Services and the Director of CECPES were presented by the Executive President of the CBC and other officials. The CBC Executive President encouraged the graduates to carry out their duties with “Passion, compassion, and the love of God,” and to be true ambassadors of Christ and CECPES in their professional environments.

CECPES currently has six intensive and seven extended students undergoing training. Looking ahead, the institution plans to introduce degree and master’s programs in Social Work and Clinical Counseling to further strengthen professional standards and improve psychosocial care in Cameroon.
